I’ve now been using my Pixel2 and Android for 3 months and feel that I can now give my impressions on weather Android is as usable or accessible as IOS on an iPhone.

I talk about eh features I really like about the Pixel2 and one thing that drives me mad.

There’s also a demonstration of the browser Google Chrome.

Episode 5 – Text goes in, voice comes out Today’s episode is all about input and output. I answer some questions raised by listeners, talk about TTS options and show voice rate. The demo this time is about text input and dictation. As a blind user the voice, Text To Speech, engine on a phone is as important as the screen for sighted folks. In this Episode you can hear the Google TTS engine speak at rates from its default right up to the fastest rate possible.

I also demonstrate the jellybean keyboard and dictation.

Episode 2, let’s do this thing. Setting up an android phone with TalkBack In this episode I reflect and review the android setup procedure, explain what I found and what I think. I then give a physical description of the Pixel2 and what’s in the box. Finally there’s a recording of the setup procedure its self. Welcome to episode 2 of the Blindly Switching Podcast.I’ve taken the first step in the journey and no longer have an iPhone. Rather I have a brand new Google Pixel2.Other than a few oddities with the setup procedure and TalkBack tutorial I think the process has been really well thought out. There’s a couple of resources I’ve been using. The Google Support guide to accessible android here:Google Support guide to accessible androidAnd the Google eyes free email list found here.Eyes free email list. The plan is that I’m now going to spend a couple of weeks getting used to the pixel and then pull episodes together looking at some commonly used apps. I’m going to look at email, web browsing. Making phone calls, text messages. Twitter and Facebook. If there’s any other things you’d like me to look in to then please get in contact via the form at www.ndadamson.com or on twitter @AdamsonFamily.
